from the coffeerooms...
All My Children -- JR tried to blackmail Babe into giving him custody of Bess by showing her a DVD edited to make it look as if she tried to have him killed. David fantasized about getting a deathbed confession from Paul. Zach told Maria he realized that Michael had become a monster. Edmund rejected Ryan’s suspicion (according to Greenlee) that Zach is really Alexander Cambias Jr. Wait to See: JR appears to be triumphing over David. Greenlee acts strangely. Bianca seeks answers from Tad.

J.R. blackmails Babe into giving him custody of Bess when he shows her a tape of Jamie trying to hire Rod to kill him. Jamie gets Paul drunk in the hopes that he will admit he switched the babies. Krystal accuses Tad of spying on her when he sees her talking to Kelly. David tries to make a deal with Zach, who has proof that David kidnapped Adam. David dreams he gets a deathbed confession from Paul. David stops Krystal from telling Bianca that Bess is really Miranda. Jonathan calls Ethan a fraud. Jonathan steals the shirt that Bianca wore the day she gave birth, and he plans to destroy it. Maggie is horrified when she sees Jonathan trying to destroy Bianca ’s top. Jonathan tells Maggie he destroyed the shirt because he feared losing his relationship with Ryan. Lily tells Jack he ruined her life by not letting her be friends with the popular girls. Jack tries to convince Lily the girls weren’t her friends, since they were using her to do their homework. Reggie is proud when Danielle tells the popular girls to back off on Lily. Lily still considers the girls her friends and goes off with them to a music store.
Ryan and Greenlee plan to start a family, Greenlee has spells of absentmindedness. Edmund refuses to believe Zach could be Alexander Cambias Jr., as it would mean that Maria was keeping a major secret from him. Erica spots Zach and Maria embracing. Erica informs Maria she will tell Edmund what she saw unless Zach leaves town. Maria refuses to give in to Erica’s threat.
NEXT WEEK: J.R. flirts with Kendall.

Maggie knows something. But Maggie won’t let Bianca in on what she knows. David lets himself go and imagines OLTL’s Paul croaking, but admitting to his evil deeds right before he goes off to hell. Zachery starts seeing the dark about Michael, and confides in Maria that he’s coming around to everybody else’s thinking. JR doctored a DVD, which showed Babe ordering a hit on him. He showed this as evidence to Babe. In order for this DVD not to fall into the wrong hands, like, say, the authorities, JR wants Babe to sign over full and sole custody of Bess to him. Jamie and Babe, clearly in love, arrange to leave their loved ones behind and make a new start in a new town, with Ace in tow. Jamie uses guilt trips to coerce JR into actually helping them leave undetected, i.e., financing the get-away. That is, until David and Krystal catch on. Rage rising like bile, David grabs a loaded weapon and charges off in the direction of OLTL’s Paul, determined to squeeze a full confession out of the snake. Jamie also goes to Llanview not long after, and witnesses David going at it with Paul. Then, Jamie joins in on the fray. Paul manages to hightail it out of there, with both David and Jamie in hot pursuit. Ryan and Greenlee go back to reality, and Pine Valley, after their honeymoon of sorts. Ryan rats on Zach, sharing his theory with Edmund and Aidan that Zach might actually be Alexander Cambias Jr., alive not dead. Greenlee says that Edmund doesn’t buy this. David goes to Zach with a proposal, a tit for tat sort of arrangement. In the following weeks to come: What’s up with Weird Greenlee?, on the surface, JR 1/David 0, Bianca figures Tad might know what’s going on, Bianca figures wrong, Babe and Jamie work together to get out of a messy jam, Ethan endeavors to wrangle, finesse, do whatever to coax Zach to cough up what he knows, Zach endeavors to fight him tooth and nail, Erica interrupts a private moment between Maria and an emotionally broken-down Zach at a cemetery, the two women finally open up their long-held grudge, including animosity from Erica snatching Maria’s baby Maddie those many years ago, fur will fly, Krystal severs romantic ties with Tad, Tad, of course, won’t take no for any answer. More than a few viewers have noticed at least two things about Jeff Branson (Jonathan): He sorta, kinda could be Leo’s brother and the voice doesn’t quite fit the young man, aka the Rick Astley syndrome. Ex-Leo’s Josh Duhamel (Las Vegas) actually pointed at Branson out of a screen-testing line-up, back when the Missouri native tried out for the part of Trey, twice, and lost out, and announced to TPTB that if they wanted Leo to have a brother, Branson could be him. While Branson was bummed about Trey falling through at the time, he feels better now that he’s Ryan’s younger, but troubled brother Jonathan; it feels more long-term. With his big, booming, Where’s the guy from? voice, Branson’s also done a fair amount of voice-overs in commercials and a young Alan Spaulding in GL. The GL job came about because Branson’s booming voice matched the grown-up Alan, aka Ron Raines. He’s also had chances to make it on the big screen and on stage, but those also fell through. Now, he’s learning the ropes, with the mentoring help of the ever-patient Cameron Mathison (Ryan), a kind of surrogate big bro. ...A long way from a small Midwestern town, getting knocked around on a football team and taking a physical break after an injury, in the coach’s wife’s drama class. Jennifer Bassey (Marian) figures her character won’t be around much, if at all, soon as on-screen daughter Liza exits. She bemoaned a lack of over-30 actors, attributed this in large part to Disney’s preferring the cast go younger, and predicts, tongue in cheek but firmly critical, that soon, not even a five-year-old will make it unless she has her eyelids lifted. Not so fast. TPTB insist it’s not the end of Liza. They got Marcy Walker to stay in a recurring capacity, after all. Maddie will be SORAS’d (Soap Opera Rapid Aging Syndrome), but not quite up to teen status, right about 14. And Sam, about 12. Kim Zimmer’s (Reva, GL) son Jake Weary, 14, has been hired to play a part on AMC, perhaps as the SORAS’d Sam.
